Point In Time Counts in Columbia Basin

The Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Department of Humans Services are coordinating to do the Annual Point in Time count this Thursday. Point-In-Time counts inform the agencies on how many individual homeless people are living in our community.
Once a year, agencies need volunteers to go out in the community to assess the amount of people that are living without housing. Alexia Estrada from the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce explains:
“Knowing how many people need services and programs can help inform the agencies identify the gaps in the community. Two zoom trainings are being held before the count will be conducted this Thursday, February 24th at 5 am.
The Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber and Department of Human Services are excited to support the Annual Point in Time (PIT) count! The Point-In-Time Count is a snapshot of how many homeless individuals are in our community on a single day. At the local level, point-in-time counts help communities plan services and programs to appropriately address local needs, measure progress in decreasing homelessness, and identify strengths and gaps in a community’s current homelessness assistance system.
We wanted to let you know that community members will be out in community, surveying individuals experiencing homelessness. Community members will receive training and also be providing care packages to folks they speak to.
The Point-In-Time count will be taking place Thursday, February 24th at 5am and the meeting point will be at the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber office, 1600 N 20th Ave, Suite E, Pasco, WA.
We are also in need of volunteers! If you could share this link for folks to register.
Each person who registers will receive an email with more information and a zoom link for the trainings. Attached is the flyer with information and a QR that sends folks to the registration link.
